It has been freezing here. Really, really cold- bike riding has taken a back seat to playing inside and seeing if we can break the ice on the pond (we can’t, it is frozen solid). We have been decorating the house inside and out, “elfing” as Henry says and already starting the holiday sugar consumption with cookie baking, fudge making and cocoa drinking.
This year Henry is very interested in Santa- wrote Santa a letter, even sat in Santa’s lap on Saturday night. The boys spent an amazing night with their great-aunt and uncle at the Kirkland tree lighting festival. I am really trying to explain to them how truely blessed they are, not everyone has so many people that love them. Here is Henry with Santa, not a great picture, but still, I can’t believe this kid did it. They came home with glow light flashlights, jingle bells and full bellies.
We will continue our merry making with more crafting, more baking and more Christmas-y things. I love the excitement in the boys, it gets better and better each year. Better and simplier. I love how excited they get over the little things, I try to remember that when things get hectic. It isn’t about stuff- it is the glow of lights, the excitement of new decorations, of baking cookies, of having another excuse to make a cup of cocoa, and feeling fortuante for what we have. I really love this time of year, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to share it with these goofballs.
