First off, Happy Birthday Bapa! We can’t wait to celebrate with you next weekend!!!
While in the midst of birthday month we managed to squeeze in some school work, doctor appointments and ultrasounds. We started this week with the boys’ annual birthday hike. After a rigorous 4 mile hike, we refueled our friends and sent them home with cupcakes. After years of barely making it a mile (maybe 2) this year felt a bit extreme. Hopefully people are not scared off for next year!
We spent the week finishing up our unit on George Washington. The boys really enjoy history- but I am reminded that they are in second grade and kindergarten. What I get from reading with them, or what I think they will find interesting often do not match. I asked Henry to name me one fact that he thought was the most interesting thing about George Washington and his response was, “I didn’t know he had slaves.” What about the two wars he fought, his presidency, our state being named after him??? Sigh… maybe Thomas Jefferson will spark something else… Onward to next week…
We had our 20 week ultrasound this week. We were strong and kept our heads down and did not peek at the gender. Everything looked good- I was relieved of the placement of things since we will be having another surgery and was also pretty smitten with watching all the wiggles and punches I have been feeling the past few weeks. This week it really set in that we are having a baby. The first half of the pregnancy was full of nauseousness, vomiting and just trying to make it through the day. Now the fun part begins- kicks, name debates and room arranging. June will creep up on us before we know it. I plan on enjoying this while I can- this last time, the anticipation of meeting a new person and adding to our chaos.
